Care Suggestions for Blue Fish Clothing
General Production Information
Most Blue Fish Clothing is made from organic cotton and other natural fibers. Blue Fish used natural dyes, and all Blue Fish Clothing is garment dyed. This means the piece was cut and sewn and then dyed and then painted using carved blocks and hand adornments. All Blue Fish Clothing is pre shrunk, all the paint is heat set and will not wash out, bleed or transfer. With the proper care, Blue Fish Clothing will last decade after decade.
Laundering Blue Fish Clothing
Blue Fish Clothing should be laundered on a gentle cycle in cold water using a bleach free mild liquid soap. Harsh laundering cleansers and spot removal products should be avoided. Detergents high in fragrance, sulfates, bleaching agents or color enhancers can unevenly fade your Blue Fish leaving undertone colors from the natural dying process. Best practice is to make the water bath, add the detergent, aggitate a bit, and then add like colors and weights to the tub to complete the cycle.
Drying Blue Fish Clothing
All Blue Fish Pieces can be tumbled safely in the dryer unless tagged, "Dry Clean Only." However, high heat can damage your Bue Fish, leaving dye flaws and undesirable uneven patterning on the art. Medium or low heat is recommended to first remove wrinkles for about 15 to 20 minutes, then finish off on the line in the shade, or lay flat for blocking.
Extra Tips & Tricks
Blue Fish Clothing can come with extra special artisan ceramic buttons made from porcelain or stoneware, shell or pressed paper. These buttons generally do very well in the washer on a gentle cycle. However, if you are concerned about your buttons, they can be protected in the washer and dryer with a small amount of tin foil pressed around the edges, covering the entire button. Steaming is always fine as is ironing. It is suggested to turn your Blue Fish inside out prior to pressing while using a lower heat setting.
